ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS

Lines and wrinkles develop on the face over time which become gradually more noticeable as we approach late 20s, early 30s. These can be seen through facial expressions but as we age they can also be seen at rest. How quickly this happens depends on lifestyle factors such as smoking, sun exposure, genetics and skincare to name a few.

Anti-wrinkle injections are a prescribed medication called Botulinum Toxin which is more commonly known as the brand name Botox. They work by blocking the signals between the nerves and muscles, temporarily relaxing the targeted muscles which cause fine lines and wrinkles and prevent further aging of the skin.

  • Treatments with toxin can eliminate or soften lines and wrinkles in the face and also create lift in areas such as the mouth, eyebrows and neck. Medical uses can include treating excess sweating, migraines and jaw clenching, if this is something you are considering treatment for, we can discuss appropriate options during the consultation appointment.

    Results are seen very quickly but it can take up to two weeks to see the full effects of toxin treatments. The most visible effects of toxin are seen two weeks after treatment, gradually wearing off until full movement is regained over a period of 4-6 months. How often it needs to be repeated is individual to how quickly your body breaks down the medication and the desired effect.

  • Bunny Lines

    These are wrinkles which can develop on either side of the nose. They can be seen with exaggerated squinting or laughing.

  • Gummy Smile

    Small amounts of toxin can be used to treat overactive muscles responsible for elevating the lip. This can be seen when a lot of the gingiva (gums) are visible when smiling.

  • Lip Flip

    This is an alternative treatment to lip filler which can up used when it is felt that the top lip disappears when smiling.

  • Perioral Lines (AKA Smokers Lines)

    These vertical lines occur around the edge of the upper lip and not necessarily caused by smoking. The circular muscle around the mouth is a very active one and as we age these lines can be a permanent feature of the face and appear deeper with time. Sometimes this treatment is carried out in conjunction with dermal filler.

  • Down Turned Corners of the Mouth

    The resting position of the lips can make our appearance seem sad as we age. To counter act the downward pull of the corners of the lips we can use toxin to relax the muscles which are responsible for this and create a more, lifted, youthful aesthetic.

  • Chin Dimpling

    A pebbled look to the chin or dimpled appearance can be corrected using small amounts of toxin.

  • Facial Slimming

    The strong masseter muscles at the sides of the face can widen the appearance of the face as they become larger with teeth grinding and clenching. Botox can be used to relax these muscles to slim the appearance of the jaw. Additional benefits of this treatment would be the reduction of teeth grinding and clenching and can also reduce headaches and muscle tenderness associated with this.

  • Nefertiti Neck Lift

    £250

    Bands of muscle in the neck can contribute to the appearance of the jowls in the lower face as well as exaggerate a ‘turkey neck’ appearance as we age. By relaxing this muscle with toxin, the appearance of the bands can be reduced and a subtle lift can be created in the lower face.
