FAQs

I KNOW WHAT TREATMENT I WOULD LIKE, DO I STILL HAVE TO HAVE A CONSULTATION?

Absolutely! Having dermal fillers or anti-wrinkle treatments are medical procedures. This is sometimes easy to forget because they are generally perceived as a beauty treatment as improving your appearance is the end goal. However, toxin is a prescription medication and dermal fillers are currently classed as a medical device and only a medically trained clinician, registered with a professional body should be administering them.

Although they are generally safe treatments to have when injected by a suitably trained medical professional, the products used are injected very close to blood vessels and nerves of the face so a thorough understanding of the anatomy is needed to reduce the associated risks of treatments.

As with many procedures there are some complications which can occur, therefore its important we can discuss these thoroughly so that you give informed consent to have your treatment carried out.

A consultation also means we can get to know each other and through a holistic approach, I might suggest alternative treatments to address your concerns which would give better results.

WILL IT BE PAINFUL?

Dermal fillers contain local anaesthetic which numbs the area quite quickly and in addition, topical numbing cream is used on the skin prior to treatment meaning procedures are usually tolerated really well.

Anti-wrinkle injections are delivered using a tiny amount of fluid, through a very fine needle. The majority of people find it a quick and comfortable procedure.

Treatments are not rushed and we can go at your pace to make sure you’re comfortable.

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?

There will be initial swelling and there is always a risk of bruising with any injectable treatment, usually lasting between 2 – 7 days. If you are planning having treatments for a particular event, we would recommend completing treatments 1 month before to ensure they are settled and you feel at your best.

HOW LONG WILL DERMAL FILLERS LAST?

Dermal fillers are not permanent and will require top-ups as they are metabolised by the body, meaning that they are naturally broken down over time. How long they last depends on where they are being used, an individual’s own metabolism and the type of product being used. Generally speaking you will see the most visible results between 6-12 months around the peri-oral area and 9-18 months everywhere else.

HOW LONG WILL ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENT LAST?

The relaxing effects of toxin treatments can be most visible from 2 weeks following treatment and can be seen for anywhere between 3-6 months. They gradually wear off and the lines and wrinkles will return, however repeat treatments will reduce how noticeable the lines are when they do return.
